About Commissioner Bradshaw

Steve Bradshaw was born in Charlotte, NC into a military family. His father spent a career in the US Navy. Upon retiring from active duty in the mid 1970’s he moved the family to Savannah, GA where Steve spent his formative years. Therefore, he considers Savannah his home town. Steve’s mother was a devoted wife and mother who passed away in 2011. Steve was also born into a very religious family in that both of his grandfathers were pastors. His mother’s father was pastor of a Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC. His father’s father was an AME pastor in Savannah, GA. Both men were significant influences in his life. Both of his grandmothers were very strong influences as well.

Upon graduating from Armstrong State University, Steve entered military service as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army, and formally trained as a tank commander. He spent tours of duty in Germany, Fort Knox, KY, Fort Benning, GA, and Saudi Arabia and Iraq during the First Gulf War. His final assignment was as a Leadership Instructor at the US Army Officer Candidate School. As a result, very early in his professional career Steve gained valuable experience in managing millions of dollars of taxpayer equipment. He also had the solemn responsibility of protecting many American lives.

Since leaving the military in the early 1990’s, Steve has spent most of his time in the private sector in various business development and operations management positions. His most recent position was as a Business Development Manager with Delta Global Staffing (Delta Airlines). With this experience, Steve has had valuable exposure in negotiating multi – million dollar contracts. He has also been responsible for the professional development of dozens of employees.

After earning a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Georgia State University, Steve spent a number of years as an Adjunct Professor in the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University. He taught courses on Public Service and Democracy, Organizational Culture and Leadership, and Critical Policy Issues.

Steve was appointed to the State Water and Wastewater Treatment board by Gov. Roy Barnes in 2001. Additionally, Steve has served on a number of local non-profit Boards of Directors to include The Giving Tree (An Adoption Resource Agency), The Clarkston Community Center, and Pride Rings in Stone Mountain (PRISM). Steve has demonstrated his caring and commitment for this community and his ability to work collaboratively. That desire to be of service remains very strong.

Steve has been married for 29 years to his wife, Diane, who has been a nurse at DeKalb Medical for 23 years. He enjoys reading, playing golf, and watching favorite pro football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

On November 8, 2016 Steve was elected to a seat of the DeKalb County Commission and took office on January 1, 2017.
Chief of Staff, Alesia Brooks
Alesia joined Commissioner Bradshaw’s campaign serving on his Leadership Advisory Council. She served as an advisor to his campaign and coordinated volunteer activities. Alesia's role as Chief of Staff is to serve as Commissioner Bradshaw's Police Advisor. 
  
  

Constituent Services Coordinator, Robin Flieg
Robin worked as an intern during Commissioner Bradshaw's campaign doing research, setting up meet and greets, and running the campaign Facebook page. Robin's role as the Constituent Services Coordinator is to address and resolve constituent concerns, run the social media pages, and provide Commissioner Bradshaw with the supplies and research needed for daily work.
